Street theatre carried into fire-prone forest ranges
Where it started
Forest fires in Chhattisgarh's dry-season ranges are frequently started by small, preventable human causes - carelessly discarded embers, unmanaged agricultural burning - in communities that live right at the forest edge and bear the first cost when fires spread.
What Nature Bodies did
Working with the Forest Range office in Narharpur, Nature Bodies brought its street-theatre model out of the city and into the villages most exposed to forest fire risk: Narharpur, Kanker, Dudhawa, Jaamgaon, and Surahi. The performances translated fire-prevention behaviour into the same direct, memorable format used in Badlaav - short, physical, and built for a village square rather than a lecture hall.
The campaign was carried out with Mr. Raju Agasamani (Chief Conservator of Forests, Kanker Circle) and Mr. Alok Kumar Bajpai (Divisional Forest Officer), grounding the performances in the forest department's own priorities for the fire season.
