Where it started

Marimai Mandir Pond had become a dumping ground rather than the water body a temple community depended on, and the roadside stretch into Naya Raipur was carrying years of accumulated plastic waste. Both needed more than a single cleanup day - they needed sustained, organised labour.

What Nature Bodies did

Nature Bodies took on Marimai Mandir Pond as a 55-day rejuvenation effort, mobilising roughly 500 people from the surrounding community over the full stretch - not a one-off photo-op cleanup, but a sustained local commitment.

In parallel, from 2–5 May 2019, 25 Nature Bodies volunteers led a 3-kilometre roadside cleanup into Naya Raipur alongside around 200 local residents, working with Karuna Singh of Earth Day Network India.

The combined effort was recognised nationally as the winning entry in Earth Day Network's Great Global Cleanup Campaign, part of its 49 Cities Campaign for 2019.
